Ghostwriting Jobs – When Clients Turn Bad

by Amanda J Evans on June 22, 2007

Have you ever accepted a ghostwriting job, completed it, looked for payment, and then heard nothing? This can happen to us all but the way we handle it is what matters.

Just recently I accepted a ghostwriting job that involved writing 50 keyword articles with the first payment due after 25 articles and the remainder on completion. This was a new client and being the trusting person that I am I accepted the job and started work. The articles were to be forwarded in batches of 5 as they were completed and I received the first 25 keywords.

I completed these and forwarded them to my client and waited for the next lot of keywords to arrive. A week passed and I heard nothing. I contacted the client telling him that I needed the remainder of the keywords to complete the project on schedule. A couple of days past and still I heard nothing. I contacted him again and this time I used his actual email address which I was able to get from Elance.

Two days later I received an email stating that the client had been out of the country and that he was reviewing the articles and would make payment and forward the next 25 keywords later that day.

Where Do You Find Your Ghostwriting Jobs?

by Amanda J Evans on June 15, 2007

Question:

Where would be a good place to start getting clients so I can start writing, I’m still weary of gofreelance.com. I’m weary because I do not have a steady income and wouldn’t want to lose a membership. Probably a stupid question and the answers are probably in your Ghostwriting Uncovered ebook. ( I remember reading the free listing sites in your book.)

How long did it take you to build your clientèle list so that it was steady enough at minimum to pay for memberships.?

Just for a reference, how many articles on keywords or anything else can you personally do in a hour? is 10 articles an hour the ideal goal to get to when ghostwriting?

Thanks and take your time answering, I understand you are busy.

– Derek Griffin

Answer:

Get a freelancer might be the best one to start with as they have so many new jobs being posted daily. Make sure to sign up for their email alerts though. The one thing about this site though is that many of the jobs are low paying but if you get the jobs at least you are getting money and getting some samples for your portfolio. Don’t post these samples online though, just keep them on your computer so if anyone is looking for a sample you can just send them to them.

What Is Copywriting?

by Amanda J Evans on June 12, 2007

Here’s another interesting questions that many of you might be able to answer too. If you have any additional information please post your comments.

Question:
I signed up for freelancer.com and when it says Estimate Project Budget: (lets say 150). What exactly does that mean? Does it mean that’s the max the person is will to pay for the project over all or that’s the asking price from a freelancer? Is that out of their pocket or mine? Also, Copy writing.. what exactly is that, I have the gist of it, I’d just like your view on what it is.

Answer:

checked out http://freelancer.com and it’s just a portal website giving links to various freelance websites, can you tell me exactly which website you signed up for. When you sign up for any of these websites make sure that you sign up as a freelancer and not a buyer. Estimated project budget is for buyers who a placing jobs on these websites and normally this amount gives an indication to us freelancers as to how much the person is willing to pay to have this work carried out.

How Much Money Can You Make By Becoming A Ghostwriter?

by Amanda J Evans on June 10, 2007

This question is from John Turner who wants to know how much money you can make by becoming a ghostwriter.

Question:
I am a pretty “fair” writer. I actually wrote an e-book recently, that has received very positive feedback. I didn’t write it for profit however. I was curious as to “roughly” what type of income you could generate from ghostwriting.
Sincerely, John Turner

Answer:

Hi John,

Thanks for your e-mail. As regards income, it really is up to the individual how much they want to make and how much time they want to put into it.

As an example I normally work 2 hours a day after my children have gone to bed and this allows me to generate a minimum of $2,000 per month. This is fine for me at the moment as my children are very young but if I need to make more I know I can and there are plenty of opportunities available too.

What Exactly Is Ghostwriting?

by Amanda J Evans on June 5, 2007

Q: May I know what I have to do actually in Ghost-writing? Is it SURVEY? Mail Order-Promotion? Something else? May I know my ROLE? How & why do I get money?

With regards,
Dr. KrishnaSankar Ganguly

Dr. Sankar,

A ghostwriter is basically a freelance writer who writes articles etc for others and gets paid for them. My website http://www.ghostwritinguncovered.com explains more about this.

I see that you are a Doctor and this could be extremely useful if you were interested in ghostwriting and there are many calls for those in the medical field to ghostwrite reports etc on medical issues. Elance is a great place to start and there is a full description of how to join this website and bid on writing projects in my Ghostwriting Uncovered E-book http://www.ghostwritinguncovered.com/sl.html If this is something that you think you may be serious about then I urge you to buy this ebook. It will take you from the beginning right through to managing a successful ghostwriting career. You could also subscribe to my Ghostwriting Uncovered Newsletter where you will receive a free 5 day e-course on Article writing and regular updates and information on ghostwriting.
