Believe it or not, there comes at time when every freelance writer will want to give up bidding on low paying jobs and start going after the high paying ones. We all want the freelance writing jobs where you get paid $200 for a 400 – 800 word article such as the one posted on CraigsList which I have included below.

In order to apply for these types of freelance writing jobs however you need to have samples. If you have been spending all your time on jobs sites such as Elance, Get A Freelancer, and Guru, you have a problem. The articles that you have completed for all your clients are not yours and you cannot use them as samples. You have ghostwritten these articles and therefore they are the property of your clients.
There is a way to get samples though and one of the best ways is to have your own blog or website and write articles for it. Another great way is to publish articles on content websites such as Ezinearticles. If however, you would like to get paid for your articles and get samples to boot, here’s another great website. It’s called Helium. You can write articles and earn revenues from them. You can also apply for jobs in their marketplace section.
There are of course plenty of other websites out there that will allow you to do the same such as Associated Content but the reason I am not saying too much about this website is that they only make payments to those living in the US. Not much good to me because I am from Ireland. They will of course let me write for them and build up my reputation which is good, but if I want to make some money then I choose Helium.
