Following on from my post yesterday about finding your ghostwriting niche I thought I would list the available writing categories for freelance writers. Most freelancers are familiar with Elance so below is the list of categories that Elance provides under it’s writing and translation section.
Writing & Translation
Article Writing
Web Content
E-books and Blogs
Academic Writing
Ghost Writing
Translation
Other – Writing Services
Editing & Proofreading
Sales Writing
Technical Writing
Copywriting
Creative Writing
Report Writing
Resumes & Cover Letters
Press Releases
Grant Writing
User Guides & Manuals
Newsletters
As you can see, there is a wide range of writing categories to choose from. There are some on this list that many of us might not be qualified to do, and then again there are some that you might not want to do. I personally steer clear of Academic Writing, Grant Writing, Translation, and Technical Writing. The reason being, that I am not qualified to write for these categories. The great thing is though, if I did have an interest in writing for any of these categories there are lots of courses that I could take.
What’s your take on these writing categories? Have you tried most or some of them? If so what category is your favourite? Which do you find to be the most profitable? Share your thoughts and experiences and let us help each other to find the most profitable ghostwriting niche.
Until next time,
Amanda
