There are so many great ways that you can earn money writing on the web and in today’s post I want to focus on writing reviews. These could be book reviews, website reviews or product reviews. Depending on the length of the review you could earn up to $100 or more.
In my experience I have written reviews for products, seminars and a couple of books. All of these have paid different rates but usually anywhere from $20 upwards. Like I said, it will depend on the length of the review but most of the product or website reviews are in the region of 500 words or more. A book review is considerable more often reaching up to 2,000 words.
Review websites are huge on the internet and most of these are owned by affiliate marketers. They fill their websites with product reviews so that people can read a review of the product they are promoting. Most of these website owners are not writers and that is where you come in. If you are a active on any of the bidding websites you will probably have seen requests for reviews and whilst this may be a place for low bids at times you can still get at least $20 for a review on Elance.
I just stumbled upon a report that shows you how to write reviews in 30 minutes using a step by step format. The guide is broken down into 10 steps and it is geared towards affiliate marketers. This is even better news for freelance writers who want to break into the review writing scene because it details exactly what your clients will be looking for when they ask you for a review. This report is 16 pages long and you can get your hands on it for just $6.95 which is a great price.
Once you master the art of writing reviews in less than 30 minutes you could be looking at earning $50 to $200 per hour. Just adding 2 reviews to your daily work load could make a big difference to your monthly pay check. There are a number of websites that you can list your review writing services too. I should mention that these would be book reviews but again these are higher paying and of course you get a free book too.
If you are interested in writing reviews here are some things that you will need to keep in mind.
- A good review should be informative and entertaining.
- You need to keep in mind your readers, the type of review and the purpose of your review when doing your writing.
- Different reviews will have different audiences so you need to be able to write in different styles.
- Make sure you review the product and know the audience your review is geared towards.
- A review will always include an introduction, description of the product, assessment of the value for the buyer, good points and bad points if any, what makes the product stand out from the competition and a conclusion.
- When writing for the web you need to keep your sentences short and use headings and bullet points.
A great place to get some experience in writing reviews is to visit writer’s forums. Another great place is Lulu.com. If you sign up for the forums here there are always people posting looking for reviews. You can use any free reviews that you do as samples for potential clients. Below you will find a few links that I came across just doing a Google search for “reviewers wanted”.

Hi Amanda,
One of my best blogging buddies is Michele Tune. She has a site called Healing With Raw Juices and last year she started doing little reviews of products. Now, she has companies sending her stuff all the time and she does a lot of contests and such. She has moved it into an art from and does a great job of things. I’m sending her the link to this page because I’ll bet the info here would be useful to her.

Thanks George,
Review websites do really well and I have toyed with the idea of creating one myself for some time now. I have the ideas, the website name, and even some products to review but for me time is the issue. Small children and large business committments just don’t mix. I also want to put in some more time on this website which is my baby so I guess the review site will just have to wait another while. Thanks for passing the link, its greatly appreciated.
