The holiday season is almost upon us and I have to admit that this is the one time of the year that I actually miss my 9 to 5 job. When you are employed you take for granted the fact that you get two weeks paid holidays at Christmas and in most companies a nice Christmas bonus too. Being self employed, you don’t get any of the above. You have to work in order to pay your bills and your salary and you certainly don’t get paid holidays or a Christmas bonus, unless of course you have it to give to yourself.

The purpose of today’s article is to make all ghostwriters especially those who are new to freelancing and being self employed aware of the fact that if you want to take holidays at Christmas then you have to start planning for them in advance. In order to take 2 weeks off you need to have 2 weeks salary built up. For me this usually means that during the months of October and November I am extremely busy. The reason for this is so that I don’t have to work from the 20th December right through until the second week in January. [click to continue…]
