Some Sunday Freelance Writing Jobs

by Amanda on April 26, 2009

Twitter is so great.  I use Tweetdeck and I have a freelance writing job search set up too.  It gives me 100 of the latest jobs posted and updates every couple of minutes.  I thought I would just let you know of a couple of jobs that looked promising.

Ok the first one is a writing competition but I said I would include it because it sounds promising.
Next is a job titled Writers Wanted Great Pay
Looking To Hire Writers with a compensation of $50 per hour
Female Writers For Publication.  This is for a Men’s lifestyle publication and again sounds promising.

All these jobs are listed on Craigslist.  If you have a Twitter account and use tweetdeck it might be worth setting up the job search feature.  You can do this by clicking on the Twitter search icon on the top of the screen.

Content Writing Riches Is Live

by Amanda on February 16, 2009

content-writing-riches

Last week I mentioned to you that a new e-book called Content Writing Riches was due out today.  Well it’s here and it’s live.  This e-book is a must have for anyone looking to break into website content writing and it explains where to find jobs (two great resources here) and how to apply for these jobs too.  The author, a freelancer himself, tells you exactly what not to do when applying for a freelance writing job.  This is information that you don’t want to miss and believe me, I have seen people everywhere making this mistake and once you read the e-book I bet you’ll be able to say that you’ve seen it done too.  If you are someone who makes this mistake then your eyes are about to be opened.

How To Find More Ghostwriting Jobs

by Amanda on February 3, 2009

Today I have something special to share with you.  I am constantly getting emails from people who like me are fed up with the state of bidding websites.  I’m sure you are familiar with the scenario that seems to be invading the bididng websites – 500 words articles for $1.  It’s totally ridiculous and I personally feel like setting up a campaign against this.  I mean come on, even beginners should get no less than $2 per 100 words, that’s $10 for a 500 word article.  I reckon that if all us ghostwriters and freelancer writers including those just starting out joined together and refused to accept anything less than $2 per 100 words, then these buyers would soon realise that you have to pay to have content written.  That’s just my opinion but what do you think?

Welcome to another Friday of love here at The Hidden Writer.  It’s been another crazy busy week for me, i just don’t know what’s happening.  Clients are literally crawling out of the wood work and new clients are continuing to pour in.  I am putting it down to the new website design and of course the fact that my rates are now clearly visible. (I will discuss my decision on this in another post).

In between writing, editing, and researching this week, I have still managed to pull up some excellent posts to list for you here today.  First though, I want to say a big thank you to everyone who comments on these blog posts.  They are written for you and when you comment it let me know that you appreciate what I am dong here.  Without further ado, here’s today’s list of posts. EU Freelance – Worth Bidding or Not?

by Amanda on November 25, 2008

Get Custom Work Done for Your Website!

EU Freelance is the latest innovation from GetAFreelancer. Using the same layout and functionality of GetAFreelancer, EU Freelance allows invididuals to bid and secure freelance jobs in the Euro currency. For those of us living in Europe and having Euro as our currency this is great especially when you consider that the dollar is not worth as much as it used to be.

If I secure a freelance writing job that pays me $300, all I am really getting is Euro236. This is what makes EU Freelance so appealing to me. I love the fact that when I bid on the jobs I am not trying to convert Euro to Dollars to see what to bid. Besides this however, what is EU Freelance and how does it compare to all the other bidding websites out there.

How To Handle Non Paying Clients

by Amanda on November 15, 2008

Have you ever wondered what you should do if you have a client who either refuses to pay you for your work or is just really slow at paying you.  This is something that can happen quite frequently and there are ways and means of avoiding it.

I have just posted a brand new article on the topic of freelance writing and non-paying clients over on Helium and it covers a great deal of information including some great tips on how to make sure that non-payment doesn’t happen and of course the action that you can take when a client is late with their payments.

There are also some other really great articles posted on this topic too if you want to check them all out.

If you have any other methods of dealing with non-paying clients, or late payments that work for you please do share them.  Afterall we are all here to help each other.

Until next time,

To Bid Or Not To Bid On Freelance Writing Jobs

by Amanda on October 8, 2008

We all know the phrase “to be or not to be, that is the question” and so today I want to suggest a new phrase “to bid or not to bid, on freelance writing jobs”.

In a recent discussion on the powerful intentions forum someone suggested that bidding on jobs was a waste of time.  This person has posted saying that she was interested in earning money writing but didn’t get the whole bidding thing and thought it was a waste of time.  A few of us that replied suggested websites such as Elance and Guru as we use them and find them a very good way of attracting new clients to our business.  Another person suggested that this person look for magazine work but this was again dismissed with a comment such as I don’t want to have to write query letters all the time.  It got me to wondering what it was that this person really wanted.  She said she wanted to earn money from her writing but no matter what the suggestion was, it wasn’t something that she wanted to do.

Anyway I’m getting a little off topic here, what I was really wondering, was, how many of us freelance writers actually do bid on jobs as a means of making a living from out writing.  In short what is you answer to the question “to bid or not to bid, on freelance writing jobs”.

Freelance Writing Scam Update

by Amanda on September 23, 2008

A while back I posted about a website called How To freelance that was supposed to give you access to freelance writing jobs without having to bid for them.  You may recall that it was approximately $10 to sign up for this program.  I signed up and discovered that it was a complete lie and what you actually got was just a lot of rehashed information on how to become a freelance writer.

Today I decided to log back into the website to see if things had improved and if there really was a jobs listing area to this website.  You can imagine my surprise when I went to the website only to discover that it no longer exists and is just basically a page full of google ads.  I really as so disgusted but what can I do.  I have been conned and I’d say there are many more like me out there.  I guess it just goes to show that there really are people out there who will do anything just to make money.

Well I’ve learned my lesson and from now on I’m going to stick with the websites I know.  Has anyone else been scammed like this?  If so please share your story so that we can all learn.
